The coronavirus has changed the way we will practice in both the public and private health service. Now that we have moved to level 1 we have retained the elements of lock down practice that my suit some patients moving forward. Modern cardiology practice relies on someone who has heard a thousand patient histories listening to you and your symptoms and helping you to navigate the array of investigations and treatments both medical and interventional available. Ironically that conversation is often easier for patients at home with their family.

Your GP will have listened to you heart and taken your pulse and BP so often no necessity for you to sit physically in front of a cardiologist unless they are performing the investigation or treatment. So here at Top of the South Cardiology we will offer all our interactions with you by phone or video call if you wish. We will then decide in partnership with you what investigations and treatments are needed and the safest way to obtain them. We can follow you up in the same virtual way.

If given an appointment for the hospital or Roundhay clinic

  • Please do not attend if you have flu or cold like symptoms, have been asked to self isolate or have been overseas or in contact with someone that has been overseas in the last 14 days.

If you have a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone (most do) then we can provide consultations by video conference. No software or apps are needed, it's as simple as clicking a button.

Alternatively we can simply talk over the phone. We have all been on a journey of discovery in the last few weeks. Patients and doctors have found that it's actually much better and easier than they had expected. In fact many patients find it so convenient that they are choosing this as their preferred method of contact regardless of isolation rules moving forward.
